St. Gabriel Catholic Church currently has the following job opening:

Faith Formation Coordinator - Grades 4-12

20 hours per week, year-round
Includes Wednesday evening and Sunday hours during the school year

 Position Summary
This 20 hour per week position is responsible for religious education from fourth grade through high school.  Focus is on enabling children in the parish to learn about and grow in their faith and worship, and preparation for sacraments as part of the church community.  Reports to the Director of Faith Formation and serves St. Gabriel staff, catechists, parents and students.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Place students in age-appropriate and developmental settings
  • Provide appropriate curriculum materials for teachers
  • Recruit teachers, assistants, craft volunteers, and substitutes
  • Be available for class registrations and religious education whenever classes meet
  • Encourage and provide opportunities for student service and fellowship
  • Maintain records and files for children in Faith Formation, grades 4 through 12
  • Coordinate RCIA program for middle grades in sacramental preparation
  • Coordinate RCIA program for teens
  • Provide communication with parents and parishioners regarding religious ed policies
  • Coordinate meetings of parents with children preparing for sacraments
  • Attend staff meetings or workshops as required
  • Engage in continuing education annually
  • Maintain records and programs in line with diocesan guidelines
  • Establish goals and objectives and evaluate them annually
  • Coordinate Confirmation retreats and Confirmation ceremonies
  • Work closely with youth minister at middle school level as appropriate
  • Coordinate Christian initiation program for children grades four through high school
  • Participate and assist when needed as part of faith formation team
  • Monitor fee payments and follow-up on non-payment through parish software

  • College degree required
