Venture Crew: High School

The St. Gabriel Venture Crew is a youth-led program for high school students (grades 9 - 12) that offers a chance for leadership and service in a social setting.  Recent events have included hiking Crowders Mountain, biking the Virginia Creeper Trail, kayaking on Lake Wylie, bowling, camping, service projects and more!   New members are always welcome.

Where: Scout Room - lowest level of the school
What:   High schoolers - including newly our newly confirmed 9th graders - join us to plan our March 30 Model Rocketry trip and other events!  RSVP to Kris Knudsen.

“October Sky” Model Rocketry Weekend
When:  Overnight Saturday, March 30.  Leaving on Saturday at 8:00 am.  Returning Sunday by 3:00 pm
Where: Camp Grimes Boy Scout Camp near Marion, NC.
What: High School Youth (9th through 12th Grade) join the St. Gabriel Venture Crew youth group for a weekend of fun and science, building and launching model rockets. 
Cost: TBD, but estimate $35 to $40 to cover food and cost of rockets and engines. 

ITINERARY:
Saturday:  Build rockets, possibly have a class on blacksmithing (if we have an instructor available), outdoor games and activities.
Saturday evening:  Prepare Dinner and Watch “October Sky” movie in the (heated) Carter Training Lounge, adjacent to the cabins.
Sunday:  Breakfast and Cleanup, then shoot rockets at the Hornets Nest Activity Field
