Parish Life Ministries

Our Parish Life ministries help provide welcoming, belonging and involvement.  All groups warmly welcome new members.  Ministries with a * before their title are appropriate for families and children.  If you have difficulty contacting the Ministry Leader noted below, please call the church office.  We will be glad to assist you!

*Athletic Association 

This ministry provides competitive athletic and recreational programs for the youth and adults of our parish. Volunteer opportunities: coaches, program coordinators, board positions, clerical & data entry positions. Read more.

*CMG - Women's Group

 This ministry provides programs that nurture and celebrate our vocations as mothers. We encourage each other through personal and spiritual growth, fellowship, and service opportunities. Babysitting is available at many functions.  Youth involvement and students needing service hours are welcome to participate in Advent on the Polar Express, Easter Egg Hunt, Giving Tree, etc. Read more.

*Coffee and Donuts  

This ministry allows us to become better acquainted with the families in our church while serving them coffee and donuts after Masses on select Sundays in the Fellowship Hall.  Volunteers sign up in advance and set up tables, prepare beverages and donuts (provided by the church), and clean up afterwards. Forever Young (75+)

This ministry plans programs for seniors of our parish who are 75 years or older, including a luncheon with entertainment most months of the year.   Ministry volunteers help with decorations, serving, clean up and providing rides for the seniors to the luncheons. From the Heart Gift Shop

The St. Gabriel gift shop is located next to the Daily Chapel and is open on Sundays after the 7:30, 9:00 and 10:45 Masses.  Volunteers are needed to staff the shop for 20 minutes after these Masses.  Contact Theresa Anderson.  

*Health Ministry 

Presents health education programs, assists with bi-annual Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick services and provides opportunities for health professionals to serve St Gabriel parishioners. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in health and wellness.  Read More.

Our Hispanic Ministries are responsible for developing a sense of welcoming, belonging and involvement for our Spanish-speaking parishioners.  Read more.

Living Your Strengths (LYS) 

This ministry helps parishioners recognize their God-given talents and discover how their talents impact all aspects of their lives and relationships.   LYS Journey Group participants develop a deeper understanding of their talents and explore how God is calling them to use their talents.  Read more.

Men’s Club  

This ministry provides men of the parish an opportunity to come together as a religious, social and service group. Activities include various service projects throughout the year, including the annual parish Christmas Tree sale, parish Lenten fish fry, annual men’s retreat, family attendance at local sports events and regular monthly meetings generally on the first Friday of each month (except July) at 7:30 pm. Moving On After Moving In 

Moving On After Moving In is a small-group program for women who are new to Charlotte and looking to meet others, offer and receive personal and spiritual support, learn about Charlotte and the St. Gabriel community.  Read more.

Empty Nest & Blessed

Join other parents (in their 40s-50s) whose children are moving out, moving on and challenging us to do the same. Contact Wendy Ritger by email.  Read more.


OWLS “Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors” (60+)

This ministry plans programs for parishioners and friends who are 60 years and older. Monthly programs on the third Wednesday of every month (except July & August) are designed for spiritual enrichment, support and fellowship. There are social activities which feature entertainment, spiritual themes and education. 


This ministry provides youth with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence and character, and develop friendships.   It also provides adults with a variety of leadership and service opportunities.  Read more.

*StrengthsQuest for Teens

This ministry helps high-schoolers understand their God-given talents and discover how their talents impact all aspects of their lives and relationships.  Adult and teen volunteers (who have completed Living Your Strengths or StrengthsQuest) help coordinate and facilitate two-session programs in the spring and fall.  For information on volunteering, contact Ana Lothspeich.  Read more.

The Cradle  

This ministry provides a developmental playschool and pre-kindergarten program for children 2, 3, 4 and 5 years-old. The lessons and activities that we teach are centered around a creative, developmental curriculum that is based on the belief that a child’s work is play. Read more.

*Venture Crew - High Schoolers 

This ministry works with high school students on high adventure, religious, team building and life experiences.  This group is youth led with adult advisors and is open to non-Catholic youth, as well.  Read more.

*Welcome Table & Greeters

This ministry involves Greeters who warmly welcome  newcomers and parishioners before Masses.  It also involves volunteers who staff our "Welcome Table" after Masses, answering questions about our parish and providing registration information.  This is a ministry the entire family can participate in and requires only 5 minutes, whenever you can participate.  Read more.

*Welcome Masses and Brunches/Luncheons

This committee plans and hosts these quarterly events held at the 9:00 am or 10:45 am Mass, followed by a meal in the Ministry Center.  The purpose is to warmly welcome our newly registered parishioners. We also inform them of the many growth opportunities our vibrant church offers them. *Youth Group 

This ministry provides social and service opportunities for 4th - 8th grade parishioners (and their friends).  Adult coordinators plan, coordinate and chaperone activities.   For information, contact the Youth Coordinators, Denise Gruender or Lisa Gilkey.  Read more.
