Announcement of New St. Gabriel Church Pastor

Greetings and peace!

I am pleased to share that Bishop Jugis provided news to me that Fr. Richard Sutter will become the new pastor of St. Gabriel Church.

I spoke with Fr. Richard and welcomed him on behalf of our community of faith.  I know that you will join me in welcoming him and that, together, you will continue building a strong community of faith here at St. Gabriel.

Fr. Richard is a 1991 graduate of Belmont Abbey College. He served in the U.S. Army before entering the seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 2009. Before being called to join the Diocese of Charlotte, he served in the dioceses of Atlanta and Savannah.  Fr. Richard has a strong commitment to youth and teens and will be one of the Teen Track speakers at the upcoming Eucharistic Congress on September 7.

As Fr. Richard and I make plans for our transition, I look forward to sharing details with you.  Our clergy, staff, and many ministry leaders will continue supporting the good work of our parish and help provide for a smooth transition.

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad!  Psalm 118:24

With gratitude and appreciation,

A Prayer for Transition

God of Love,
You are with us in every transition and change.
As we enter into this new era with excitement and even some anxiety,
we recall your deep compassion, presence, and abounding love.
We thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed us.
We thank you for the experiences that have brought us to this moment.
We thank you for the work of others that gives breadth and depth to our own work.
Be with us as we move forward, rejoicing with you and supporting one another.
We ask this in your Holy Name.
