Outreach Opportunities

Saturday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 24:  HOM pick up and set up 
Help pick up furniture for our HOM Ministry on Saturday, April 13 or help set up apartments on the 24th.  Email HOM for details.  

Caring for Charlotte and our neighbors at The Urban Ministry
Learn how you can share your time with neighbors in need at The Urban Ministry by attending an upcoming program on the following dates:

Thursday, April 25, 9:45 am:  Replace Misalettes
Switch out the misalettes in the Church pews.

Friday, April 26:  Men's Homeless Shelter
Prepare and/or serve our monthly dinner at the shelter on N. Tryon St.  Two shifts available to choose from 3:00 - 5:30 or 5:30 - 7:30.  Contact Wally Penilla for details.  Sign up here.  

Tuesday, April 30:  Nurses Serving our Neighbors
Information program to learn about a new ministry providing occasional opportunities to work one-on-one with neighbors in need (living in shelters or supportive housing). 6:30 pm in the Church Family Room.  Learn more here.  

Tuesday, May 7:  Cookies for Cochrane
Bake 2 dozen cookies for Staff Appreciation Week at our partner school, Cochrane Collegiate Academy.  Drop off cookies in the Ministry Centeron Tuesday, May 7 or by 8:30 am on Wednesday, May 8.  Details and sign up here.  

Thursday, May 9:  Refugee Resettlement Ministry Information Meeting, 6:30 pm, Ministry Building
Catholic Charities will share information about our RRM ministry, helping families adjust to their new lives and how we can help.  Feel free to just come and learn without committing.  Contact Karen Brown to rsvp or with questions.  

Saturday, May 11:  Habitat Work Day
Build a home for a family moving out of homelessness.  No experience needed.  We will be installing interior trim.  Must be 16 years to volunteer (and accompanied by an adult).  Contact Danny Kelly with questions.  Sign up here.  

Rosary Makers  
Make rosaries for missions around the world, sick relatives, friends and parish members.  Join us on Thursdays from 10:30 - noon in the Ministry Center to work together or pick up instructions and materials to work on at home.  Contact Betty or Paul Donovan by email.

Baby Bundles: Provides newborn essentials to families in financial need.  View details here.

Parish Life Opportunities

Faith Formation Catechist:  September - April
Catechists needed for Faith Formation Classes next school year.  No experience needed and training is provided.  Share your faith with our children.  Contact Kristen Rivera 

From the Heart Gift Shop (Sundays after 9:00 and 10:45 Mass)
Do you like to shop and usually attend 9:00 or 10:45 am masses on Sundays?  Put them together and volunteer.   From The Heart Gift Shop is looking for volunteers to staff our store after 9:00 and 10:45 Masses. Head to the bookstore directly after receiving Communion and plan to stay 15 minutes after Mass.  Meet new people, see familiar faces and lend a hand.  Contact Karen Brown if you can help.

Forever Young:  Co-Ministry Leader
 Do you have a heart for serving the elderly and like to have fun?  Forever Young seeks a ministry leader to co-coordinate their 9 monthly lunches with entertainment.  Forever Young serves seniors, 75 years.  We have volunteers to help but need someone to- help organize. Contact Maria O’Boyle .

Hospitality/Welcome Brunches  
Help plan, set-up, greet, serve and clean up our quarterly Welcome Brunches for new parishioners.  Meaningful opportunity to engage with members and meet others.  Contact Margie Eades for more information.

*Coffee and Donut Servers (Sundays after 7:30, 9:00, and 10:45 am Masses) Sign up in advance, choosing specific dates and Mass times.  Set up and clean up are simple, and this ministry is appropriate for everyone from singles to families with children, Scout troops, and teens who need serve hours. Sign up here to volunteer.  

 *Ushers Needed:  A Great Way to Serve
Do you attend the same Mass on a regular basis?  Consider serving as an usher - both men and women are welcome.  The need is especially great on Sundays at 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm.  Teens are welcome to serve on Sundays at 5:00 pm.  For details, please contact Bob Fernan.  

Perpetual Adoration
Spend one hour a week in prayer with our Lord.  Regularly scheduled adorers are needed.  Contact Estelle Wisneski for specific days/times needed.

Altar Society
Tidy our Altar Server robes by hanging according to size, checking for needed repairs, occasionally lanundering.  No ironing or sewing required.  Time commitment is 1-2 hours each week.  Perfect for those who frequent daily Mass or spend time in Perpetual adoration, or live close to the church.  Contact Denise Murphy.  

Church Mice  
Tidy up the Church on Monday mornings.  More hands make light work.  Contact Karen Brown at via email for details. 

Words on the Wall
Volunteers needed during Mass to run the laptop that projects the "words on the wall".  Must be comfortable with Microsoft Power Point. Find contact information here.  

On-going: Bereavement Bakers
Provide 3 to 12 dozen baked goods for funeral receptions on an as-needed basis.  To volunteer or for more information contact Denise Murphy by email

Prayer Ministry Volunteers
Pray for the intentions of our parishioners by receiving a postcard every month. Contact Karen Brown by email or at 704-362-5047, ext. 214.

*On-going:  Greeters                      
Arrive 20 minutes before Mass and welcome people as they arrive in the Narthex.  The 5:00 pm Masses on Saturday and Sunday are in greatest need.  Perfect for smiling faces of all ages.  View details and sign-up online here. 

On-going:  Welcome Table   
 Stay 15 minutes after Mass and staff the Welcome Table in the Narthex (answer visitors' questions and provide registration information to newcomers.) The 5:00 pm Masses on Saturdays and Sundays are in greatest need.  View details and sign-up online here.

*On-going:  Children's Liturgy of the Word
Teach short lesson to children (ages 4 years - 2nd grade) during the Gospel and homily on Sunday at 9:00 am Mass.  Lesson ideas are provided.  Contact Denise Gruender.
