Our parish hosts a number of support groups.  Contact information is provided for each.

Al-Anon All-Women's Group

Meets Tuesday evenings in the Ministry Center, Room B from 7:15 - 8:15 pm. 12-step program for family and friends of alcoholics.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Meets Saturday evenings in the Scout Room from 5.45 - 6.45 pm.  For details, contact Brian at 704-777-2345.

CODA (Codependents Anonymous) 

Meets every Wednesday at noon in the Ministry Center, Room E.  For details, contact Nzinga Barnes at 704-451-9902.

Crohn's and Colitis

Meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Ministry Center from 7pm to 8pm.  For details, contact 704-264-0587.

Hope of Life (Hispanic RespectAbility Miinistry)

Meets the last Friday of the month in the Ministry Center and provides support for parents of special needs children. Entertainment is provided for children.  For details, contact 704-293-4972.

S.A.A. 12 Step Men’s Program  (Alpha Group)

An anonymous support group for men dealing with sexual behavior.  For details, contact 704-572-9127.

Shining Stars Adult Respite (Alzheimers) 

Shining Stars is a non-profit adult day respite program (open since January 1999) for members of our community with early to moderate Alzheimer’s Disease.  It’s a small, family like environment with a ten person limit. Activities include games, social interaction and exercise designed to encourage and stimulate participants. This program is hosted by St. Gabriel on Mondays and Wednesdays (in the Ministry Center, Room D) and by Sardis Presbyterian on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am - 3 pm.   It’s affordable at $35/day for four days, $40/day for 2-3 days and $45 for one day. Shining Stars Alzheimers Support Group 

Meets the last Monday of the month in the Ministry Center, Room E at 10:00 am.  For caregivers of those with Alzheimers. For details, contact Suzanne Bach at 704-335-0253.  

InReach / Self Advocates of Mecklenburg Group (for people with disabilities)

SGIT:  St. Gabriel In Transition 

This ministry is for those who are, or may soon be, facing a job layoff or employment transition. The program goal is to support job seekers in their search for rewarding employment through individual coaching. Volunteers from our parish are available as coaches and can connect with you one-on-one to address your questions and your particular search.  

Widowed Support Group

Meets the second Tuesday of the month in the Ministry Center, room E, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. No one needs to grieve alone. For details, contact Sr. Marie Frechette at 704-543-7677, ext. 1073.
