Outreach Ministry Volunteer Opportunities

* November 15th - December 7th: Giving Tree Coordination and Sort Night
Volunteers are needed to store gifts in the Usher’s Closet/Confessionals each weekend after Masses, to move items to the storage POD, to help set up for the December 7th "sort night".  Many hands are also needed on December 7th, the "sort night", and to help deliver gifts.  View volunteer opportunities on Sign-Up Genius.   Questions? November 21st: HOM Furniture Drive

*November 27: Men's Uptown Homeless Shelter                                                           Prepare and serve dinner to those who are homeless.  Food prep begins at 2:00 and dinner is served at 6:00.  Leftover desserts, cakes, cookies, etc are requested.  Contact Wally Penilla at wpenilla@aol.com

*November 27th – December 20th: Men's Club Christmas Tree Sale
Assist Men’s Club with the Christmas Tree Sale.  (Must be 13 years or older) Contact Tom Libhradt at clibhardt@gmail.com.

*November & December:  Levine & Dickson Hospice House Holiday Meals
Volunteers are needed to provide a “prepared” or “unprepared” meal to Hospice in-home patients and their families at Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.  Meals typically include a meat, starch, vegetable, rolls, dessert and drink.  Prepared meals should be delivered the day before the holiday and unprepared can be delivered up to two weeks prior.  All meals feed up to 8 people. *November & December:  Baked Goods for St.Vincent de Paul Food Baskets
Volunteers needed to bake desserts, holiday treats, cookies, etc for St. Vincent DePaul Baskets.  Bake desserts early and freeze.  Homemade desserts should feed a family of 4-6 people.  Wrap thoroughly in clear plastic, foil or ziplock bags.  Items are to be homemade (cookies, candies, pies, breads, cakes, brownies,etc.), should not need refrigeration, and should transport well.  Deliver to the school cafeteria on Friday, December 18th, between 1-5 pm. December 4 & 5: Christmas Under the Bridge                                                Volunteers needed to assist confirmation students with sorting and packing boxes of clothes for local organizations in the Ministry Building.  December 4, volunteer shift is from 5:30 pm - 9:00 and December 5, volunteer shift is from 9:00am - 12:00.  Food provided for both shifts.  Contact Peter Brehmer at PBrehmer@charlottepipe.com

*December 19 (8:00 – 10:00 am): St. Vincent De Paul Food Basket Assembly
Help assemble 400 food baskets for the hungry in the school cafeteria.  Just show up to volunteer.   

*December 25:  Men's Uptown Homeless Shelter                                                   Prepare food from 2:00 - 5:30 or serve from 5:30 - 7:30. Teens (with supervision) can help sort, pack and distribute gift bags.  Contact Wally Penilla at wpenilla@aol.com


On-going:  Shining Stars
Volunteers needed to help with activities and fellowship for adult respite care Mondays and or Wednesdays. Contact Suzanne Bach at 704-335-0253

*On-going:  Levine & Dickson Hospice House  - Snack Collection
Help stock the pantry with nonperishable snacks for family members and patients.  Individually wrapped granola bars, trail mix, cookies, crackers, juice boxes, pretzels, are needed (preferably in bulk). Contact Meagan Quinlan at meagsgq@gmail.com

Ongoing:  Rosary Makers                                 Meets Thursdays from 10:30 - noon in Ministry Center, Room D to make rosaries for missions around the world and for sick relative, friends and parish members.  Most of our work is done at home.  If you are homebound, we will bring you instructions and pick up completed rosaries.  Questions?  Call Betty or Paul Donovan at 704-817-8780 or pedonovan@icloud.com



Parish Life Volunteer Opportunities

*December 11th (6:00- 8:00 pm): Advent on the Polar Express  Help with this Christian Mothers' Group sponsored event for children in the school cafeteria.  Contact Jessica DeVore at jessicahdev@gmail.com

Once a month: From the Heart Gift Shop
Volunteers needed to work one Sunday per month from the end of one Mass to the beginning of the next. Contact Theresa Anderson at tba1708@gmail.com.  (9:00 Sunday Masses have greatest need for volunteers.)

 On-going:  Words on the Wall at Mass
Volunteers are needed to administer the projector and laptop during weekend Masses.  Contact John Krasniewski at jkrasniewski@carolina.rr.com. 

*On-going:  Greeters                                       Arrive 20 minutes before Mass and welcome people as they arrive in the Narthex.  Volunteer as often as you like.  Perfect for smiling faces of all ages.  View details and sign-up online here.

On-going:  Welcome Table Volunteers            Stay 15 minutes after Mass and staff the Welcome Table in the Narthex (answer visitors' questions and provide registration information to newcomers.)
