The History of LYS at St. Gabriel

Our parish embarked on this journey in 2009, to strengthen the spiritual commitment and connection parishioners feel to our parish. We are deeply grateful to St. Matthew Parish in South Charlotte for guiding us in this effort.

Spring 2009 Parish “Engagement Committee” was formed and began planning

Summer 2009 First group of St. Gabriel LYS coaches was trained by Gallup

Fall 2009 A Gallup survey indicated that 19% of our parishioners feel a strong connection to the parish, are spiritually committed, and are willing to give to the parish in time and treasure. LYS journey group facilitators were trained and pilot LYS small groups were formed

Winter 2010 Parish began offering 6-week small group sessions and one-on-one coaching

Currently 572+ parishioners have completed the StrengthsFinder assessment

433+ parishioners have participated in small group sessions

283+ parishioners have received one-on-one coaching
